Just joined a faction today, and Hatter (who introduced me to Skyrates) tells me that a new forum should have appeared, yet I don't see one. He also says that the same thing happened to him a few days ago.

So! I would really like to see this shiny secret forum, and get the show on the road, you know?

Thanks a lot!

Yeah. Maybe it wasn't a few days ago... Maybe a week ago-ish?

I dunno. I had PMed Calvin about it, but Taft was the one who actually ended up fixing it for me. Don't remember what he did, though...

At any rate, I think the fact that this has happened to more than just me might warrant some attention into the matter.

To verify Ser, you don't see this:

viewforum.php?f=28

?

I clicked it, and it told me that I am not authorized to view that page. :)

(Authorised. I should imagine everything with a British accent, I guess. That could be fun.)

This is strange...and I believe a kind of phpbb problem. I'll investigate.

I remember how you solved the problem for me, Taft.

You said that you had removed me from the group Jade Hand, and then put me back into it. After that, I was able to see the Jade Hand subforum with no problems.

Also, Zhoec: Are you implying that I, too, joined the wrong forum? ;)

I know how to bandaid fix it when it happens, but I want to figure out the *why* to it.

I wonder... How often does it happen? Serieve had no idea until I told her there was supposed to be another subforum. I wonder if any of the not-quite-as-outspoken Flight Schoolies have experienced the same problem, but didn't post about it because they didn't realize?

Should a post be made in the Flight School forums, informing them that upon joining a Faction, a new subforum should appear?

Anecdotally, the red's area didn't show up for me for about a week after I joined in-game. That is I joined the reds about two weeks ago, but the forum didn't show up until last week.
I didn't do anything about it since I vaguely remembered there being a delay on it from before my hiatus too :shifty:

When I had joined the Jade Hand after my absence, the subforum simply did not appear. I had to get Taft to help me out.

I personally think that the Flight School subforum should have a sticky topic alerting schoolies to bugs that might otherwise go unnoticed or mistaken for game mechanics-- especially if they're problems that occur frequently.

From my first post on the forums, I wrote:
This might help:

Go to "User Control Panel," then click "Usergroups," which is located toward the bottom of the list on the left-hand side of the screen. It should automatically take you to the "Edit Memberships" screen, which will show a list of the groups you are a member of. If there is more then one group listed under "Leaderships," then you should select the group/s that you don't want, then choose "Demote Group" from the drop-down list towards the bottom of the screen, and then click the "Submit" button.

I was unable to see the forum for my faction. When I checked the "leaderships" list, both the Jade Hand and Flight School were listed. So I "demoted" Flight School, and I can now access the Jade Hand forum. This might work for your problem as well, since it sounds very similar to the problem I was having.

Hope I could help!

Hopefully it will still work for you guys!

Often enough that it needs to be addressed.
It seems that whatever script that runs and checks Faction memberships and updates the phpbb settings isn't running automagically any longer.

:alert: Magic!

That totally worked.

Thanks a lot!

Admittedly, it was a hard choice... lol.

That's the thing, though. While it may have worked for Serieve, it did not work for me. Taft had to manually remove me from the group and then put me back in before it worked.
