Has anyone made a map of all the skylands yet? There's something like it on the skybrary, but I can't really pick out individual names; it just shows a bunch of dots in a spiral-y shape.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Huh?

One thing you may be looking for is the in-game Flash map on which you can plot routes: once you attain Flight License 9, you can see pretty much all of Skytopia on it.

Screenshots of it aren't great at communicating the entire map, because rim skylands are significantly sparser than core skylands: you can't choose a zoom level that can see the names of all the core skylands but that can fit more than a couple rim skylands on your screen at once.

But any static map of Skytopia I've tried to make has run up against that same problem: the rim skylands are sparse, and squashing them inwards runs into trouble around the spokes.

With all of that said, here are a couple of URLs that have hosted lovely dynamic maps in the past; neither appears to work right now, but you can watch and see if one appears.

Oh... I was kind of hoping that there would just be a simple static map. You could probably combine screenshots of different zoomed-in portions and make it... But anyway, I'll just work on FL until I can see it, and then maybe I'll make the map myself.

I was hoping we could make something like that, I started the Category below in the Wiki to keep all the maps together, if you see any pages with map images you can tag them with Maps.

Turns out we have a cobbled-together one of 2.5 below, we could use a better one though.

Yeah, that's the one I saw. It's okay towards the edges, but the cluster in the center needs to be reworked. I'm thinking just zooming the individual screens in more would help.

I could help provide filled-in screen shots of all the main circle skylands, I've visited each and all the fuel islands. Someone will have to tack on Uur and Grotto though, cause I don't have those filled in yet.

http://getfsohum.selfip.com/static/map.svg is also hosted at http://skyrates.wikia.com/wiki/File:Map.svg, which does work even when my server's down.

Ah, that one's helpful. I have no idea how they made it, though. What programs edit .svg files? I think that they're scalable vector somethings...

Scalable Vector Graphics. The idea is that the map is zoomable.

I know Inkscape can edit them.

I made it :). The server sends each skyland's coordinates to the client on client load, so the svg map is basically a replotting of those coordinates.

Oh, that is really good. I can use that. I'll try to make a larger one tomorrow, upload it to the wiki.
Thanks for making the map, btw. :remycute:

It's scalable! You don't need to manually make it larger...

Though I suppose tweaking the fontsizes in the center cluster could help.

Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but the cluster still has overlaps when I zoom. I was thinking to increase the scale so the Names wouldn't overlap.

Yea, that's precisely it. If you just reduce the fontsize of the center cluster so it doesn't overlap, then when you zoom in you'll have what you wanted.

Not really, GIMP can import them and edit in raster format. It can't export SVGs.

It's not a usually; GIMP simply can't edit .svg files.
