with fluctuating prices on planes would it ever be viable to trade in planes instead of in goods? If you could accurately predict the popularity changes in the planes there could be some healthy profit margins to be made very quickly.

It occurs to me that it would be neat to have planes with specifically named special features in additional upgrade slots. It's nice to know that the Bolo has weird arcs and high firepower, but it'd be even nicer to know that it has All-Angle Shotguns giving it +3 Firepower but hardly any gun range.

These needn't actually impact the difficult things like arcs; I'd imagine it'd be simple enough to simply make them unsellable. Just another avenue to infuse personality into the planes.

I like where you're going with that Eskay. It might not even be necessarily an "upgrade" slot. Maybe it could be separate (small dividing line between upgrades and the new slot or slots), and labeled "features" or something like that. That way it would be obvious that it wasn't removable. Each plane could get one or two (or however many), and it would help to make each plane more interesting. Stuff like the fact that blimps can't do most maneuvers and the like could be "features" too, even though they aren't positive ones. It would be even better if each feature had it's own little graphic, in the same vein as the cargo crate or bullet that we've seen for the upgrades, but that would be a lot more effort on the devs part.

It's probably not a high priority change to make, but I really like it. Hooray for personality!

so, sort of like, for example, the skybrary mentions the avenger has a turbofan engine. Is that similar to what we're talking about. Just a way to explain what makes each plane special? Because i do like the idea.

Yes, to explain what makes each plane special and how that helps you. I like tying in the things we'd like to know such as what maneuvers are forbidden; it's an opportunity to tell people that the Bismarck can do a barrel roll with those giant fans, too.

I definately like the idea of a different upgrade system, based on the linear idea presented earlier. However, would that mean that certain planes would start with X upgrade in X slot? Or would it mean that the upgrades would have more/less weight(in terms of upgrade strength) on higher-tier planes?

I'd also love to see the list become a bit more compressed, but that's just a personal opinion. Have more planes in less tiers and all. Though, the idea that you have less planes at the beginning levels and more planes at the later levels is something I like.

As long as we're talking about new planes, Skyrates needs more large airships! I wanna' be able to fly a Scarlet Blade-class battleship! :red:

Something I wanted to do for the sheer heck of it was put mad props onna CR-4P, would have been one of the few upgrades it could have accepted. Could that be made possible by having it on a land a CR4P could reach?

For each plane, I list the difference in tiers (9-tier scale) between the 2.3 release and the new list.

I adjusted for the 9-tier scale by multiplying the old tier number by 1.5: old Tier 6 = new Tier 9, old Tier 5 = new Tier 7.5, etc.
For example, Thor was Tier 4 before, so the old Thor would be Tier 6 on the 9-tier scale. The new Thor is Tier 1, so Thor has a score of 1 - 6 = -5 in the nerfing index.
