Okay, so I was testing out the Mentor/Apprentice relationship, and accepted Victor Grissom as my mentor. I've been getting a little influence at Sharif and Leng, and noticed that he had suddenly grown quite a reputation at each. Anyway, I decided to test it, and marked what his influence was before I finished some combat missions at Sharif, and how it grew after.

Okay, so I had a Flawless Record, an Icecream Show, and a Stroganoff Blockade, that gave a sum of 8,585 influence. Before I finished them, Victor had 25,155 influence at Sharif, and afterwards, he had 36,315. Further, I just noticed that my overall influence didn't increase at all.

So, from what I can piece together, the mentor seems to get all of the apprentice's influence, as well as a bonus of at least 20% or so, and the apprentice doesn't get any. Is this really the intention?

This has alt account implications. Being able to have other accounts that cannot show up in the inf rankings/hold govships while adding all the inf + more to a (completely distinct) main. This will add a lot of work for the devs to keep the inf game fair.

You should have checked the fine print a little better, Ace. The form Victor had you sign actually said "Master," not "Mentor."

Intention is that apprentice gains all the reputation they earned for the mission, and the mentor gains a proportion as bonus.

So if the ratio is half...

Bob is mentoring Anna.

Anna completes a mission for 100 reputation.

Bob gains 50 reputation because they've been mentoring.

We can investigate to make sure it's working properly.

Ah, just ran the check again, and I was mistaken. I am still getting my influence, but Victor is getting more than I am.

In your example, Anna would still be getting 100 rep, but Bob would get 125 or so.

That sounds like a problem We'll fix it.
