See these here Skylight pop-ups?

They're made using a Chrome feature called HTML notifications. Each pop-up is like a little web page; Skylight has great freedom over what goes into a pop-up and how it is styled.

The good people at Google have decided to remove HTML notifications from Chrome. They're already gone from the current versions of Chrome for Windows and Chrome OS, with other platforms to follow.

While Chrome can no longer do HTML notifications, it can do text notifications. These are more limited, only allowing for a title, a body of unstyled text, and a small icon. Something like this:

When I find the time and motivation I'll have Skylight switch to using text notifications.

(Is there some logical reason behind this? Security or something?)

Update your Skylight to version 2013.7.20.0 to get the new pop-ups.

Browser makers are moving to using OS native notifications instead of rolling their own. That's a good thing. OS makers want their notifications to be simple and consistent and widgety, so no html. That's a good thing too. Skylight loses out because it was using notifications for a little bit beyond just notifying. So it goes.

Updated, and thanks. At least they work now, which is the important part. And I can see the reasoning. Anyhow, cheers!
