I have made a mod for Skylight so people who make a lot of long posts in RP can edit it more conveniently without having to open up external programs. It makes the input area a multi-line textarea, but doesn't allow newline characters to be input, and still receives an enter key hit as a command to send. I also increased the character limit from 800 to 1000 just to provide a little more leeway. I can't imagine anybody would need to go any higher than that in one post. (EDIT: Skyrates actually has a hardcoded limit, so I've removed this.)

Still 99% Katy's work, though. Skylight forever.

Didn't want to see this lost in the pile, so I've split it into its own topic.

Nice work, Maya.

Neato, a Skylight mod. Good one Maya.

Here's the thing to know. I wrote the Skylight client in CoffeeScript and LESS. Which means the javascript and css in the extension, which Maya read and modified, is generated code. Which makes it hard to read and modify. Also, even the code it's generated from is particularly Kathryn-y, looking at it now. Seems I was more interested in experimenting and playing and learning than imagining what it would be like for someone else to figure out how it works.

So here's the thing to think about. What I could do is clean up the Skylight client code a bit, make it more structured and orthodox, then put it up on github, with all the CoffeeScript and LESS and the build script included. Then it would be much easier to mod. If you wanted to change the font, or make /ignore work, or make a Pony Talk channel, you could do it yourself instead of waiting while I not do those things.

Is that something that interests anyone at all?

Sounds like a plan. I'm picking up some of this, this semester I think. Might try giving it a poke or two if I could understand it well enough.
