I'd like to request a feature that standardizes the time, and possibly the date, for use in the RP tab. In addition, perhaps it can use the weather from some random location as the current weather conditions? Just a request.

I support this. With my FACE!

Aye, it'd be nice to have some kind of universal known time and weather outside.

Yes, please. It just need to be standardized for the R&P skylet, even.

Hm. What kind of clock would meet the requirement?

  • One RP day per RL day. (Use e.g. UTC.)
  • Two RP days per RL day. (Which game am I thinking of here?)
  • Ten to twelve RP days per RL day (as, for example, GST.)
  • Slightly more than one RP day per RL day (Which game am I thinking of here?)

My favorite is the sliding time: it lets events proceed in almost exactly real time, but if you have e.g. an evening RP you want to do, you can pick a day where your play time aligns with RP evening. And you can RP a long day a bit at a time, in the same time slot each RL day, and have the time sync up.

But I don't RP much here, so I don't know the actual requirements. Any thoughts?

(Edited to add an explanation of why my favorite is my favorite.)

I think 1:1 for simplicity sake? that or 1.5 RL days per RP day to slightly slow down time taking into account how long it takes to type stuff?

I'd say 1:1 or close to it, just to keep things simple.

It could be synched to a specific location and timezone. For example, the official weather for the R&P on whatever day will depend on the whether in say... New York. Time could synch up to PST or whatever the lurker's official timezone is.

Given this, days would have to be 1:1. It'd make it simpler.

I like the 'official weather' idea, but I'm a bit leery of setting an official time of day.

Time tracking itself would not be difficult if it was well documented (how is time tracked, dates? how long are days? What format is used to represent the current moment?) Info by command and probably even allowing a little 'stamp' to be sent every (X) often.

The ability to set a time shouldn't be especially difficult either, although the question comes up of how to protect one groups time if another hops in and tries to set it without checking first, or such. The easiest to start with would probably be to develop a time & date system, overlay it, and test it out without any adjustments. Once people got a feel for that and liked the results, we could evaluate sliding time.
