Hello everyone!

I'm sure some of you have met Narbot already. It's a bot made by me, with a backend provided by Kathryn.
It serves two primary functions: Mimicry (as with the sentence generator I had on my site that I showed some of you) and acting as a Skyrates Postman.
To get it to mimic someone, just say "Narbot, mimic X" with X being a skyrate.
To send a message, say "Narbot, deliver a message to X: blah blah blah" where X is a skyrate and blah blah blah is your message.
To check for messages, say "Narbot, check messages".
To view a message, say "Narbot, view message from X", where X is someone who sent you something.

Narbot has additional, mostly silly, functions as well.

I plan on incorporating more features over time, and tweaking things.
This includes flood control (so people don't spam commands, nor does any one command get used too much) and conversation tracking (so it'll be able to, say, be asked for a sammich, ask zolurker for one, get it, and still know it was you who originally wanted it. Which is harder than you'd think!).

Please leave constructive comments (so, Reality, you may wanna sit this one out) and feature requests here.
((Also, if an admin or whoever sees this, feel free to close up The Machine. I plan on integrating it into Narbot over time and so it's unnecessary.))

EDIT: I corrected your mimix/mimic typo. -Calvin

Okay, no problem.
I'll close the thread and make a new spot for Narbot - or something.
Don't have time to fiddle with it right now, but I'll add it to my list.

Would it not be better to just deliver the messages the next time the recipient is seen, without the "check/view messages" malarkey?

Yes. Next big change (this weekend, perhaps) is to give Narbot a memory - say, the last day of logs or something, and then it can make sure it's referring to the right people, and poking people to say they have a message. I'll also at that point be able to have it just read off all of the messages at once.
That way, it can ping people regarding their messages once a day or so, among other things. (such as flood control.)

Narbot will deliver the message.

(later ...)

A big cow: Dear Kathryn, have you seen my keys?
Narbot will deliver the message.
A big cow: oh wait
A big cow: Dear Kathryn, it's ok, they were in my pants.
Narbot will deliver that message instead.

(later still ...)

Kathryn: Mornin' Skyrates.
Narbot: Dear Kathryn, these cupcakes taste funny. [from Blue Vast]
Narbot: Dear Kathryn, it's ok, they were in my pants. [from A big cow]

I could monkey with Narbot and make her work like this, if y'all would prefer and if Narua doesn't object to monkeys.

The issues I can think of are twofold.

One: If the person hasn't gotten your first message, and you don't know it, you overwrite it.

Two: What on earth was in the cows pants?

Otherwise, seems nice.

So I went and did that. If it's not good it can be turned off.

Narbot refuses to acknowledge my existence. I think I hurt her feelings.

I love it when sentences like this pop up!

Narbot [Maya] || Katherine Khoa raises her own {static} from a rather unbreakable slumber.

Hear ye, hear ye!
My retirement from Skyrates is nigh.
I have but one RP arc to finish off and then I'm done.
Narbot development shall be assumed as ceased as of now.
The complaints about the weather "algorithm", as it were, are noted. I am not going to fix them, but I *am* making the weather portion of Narbot available online for free.
All those interested in fixin' it can do so. Emailing me a new version of it means I'll look at it and replace it if I like it better.
The link is http://lo.lologi.st/skyrates/weather.zip
Email me new version(s) at lolologist (aht) gmail (dert) com
I, with work and other things to do, have only the people in my wing keeping me around really, but hopefully I can stay in contact with them and you in other ways. Google Chat is one such way.
And anyone else can always email me, we can use GChat to talk, etc.
So, consider this phase 1 of a very long and drawn out farewell. :P
