Okay, I've tried both Greasemonkey and Scriptish, but I cannot install Skycust. I keep getting an error which states the following:

Error loading dependency: http://plugins.jquery.com/files/aqFloater.js.txt
Error! Server returned: 302: Found

What should I do?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Uninstall (if possible) and be sure you're using the correct dance steps as described here.

Eskay may be able to diagnose in more detail, but reinstalling is probably worth one more go.

Okay, I tried reinstalling Greasemonkey. No luck. Now I get this error:

Error downloading URL:
http://plugins.jquery.com/files/aqFloater.js.txt

Server returned 404 Not Found

Sluor and I know exactly what's going on here, but we're not yet sure how to fix it. This is a genuine problem that we expect will impact all non-Chrome users of Skycust.

The Chrome version will continue to work fine.

For programmers: The non-Chrome version requires aqFloater, which is no longer available where it was. We haven't found the same version anywhere else, and a different version would require code rewrites we're not currently able to do.

Thank you very much for taking the time to address my issue. I'll just use Chrome whenever I want to play Skyrates, then.

Edit: The power of open indeed! It appears a little google-fu was all that was needed to successfully solve this plus know-how. Everything is (temporarily) right with skycust again. Cheers!

The power of open!

Thanks for digging that aqFloater up. And while I have to admire the hack (using relative paths on a userscript so it loads from github? that's pretty nifty :D), now that we have the js file available, I can host it myself. This way, the script works from, say, userscripts.org.

It's been updated, on both locations, so feel free to pick your poison.

---

As this whole issue may have hinted, I'm not exactly in the best of shape to maintain Skycust anymore. Eskay's still monitoring this, I think, so if something comes up that's simple to fix I'll probably be able to do so... but anything complicated (like the rewrite of skycust I've been meaning to do, or any Large And Complex(TM) bug) will probably not happen. If there's ends up being a need for it, I strongly urge you guys to not be shy about forking.

Cheers!

Thanks for the fix, Aeon!

Tardicus, Sluor has pointed out to me that with Aeon's fix, the non-Chrome version actually works better than the Chrome version. So go ahead and use your non-Chrome browser, with the fixed version of Skycust.

Programmers, see Sluor's post for all the details we have.

Skycust works now on my Firefox! Huzzah! Huzzah! Huzzah!

One more annoying question: How do I get my custom avatar put into the system?

Oh, and the area around the circle in the avatar should just be left white, right?

You get your avatar put into the system by giving it to me.

The area around the circle should be transparent. How to do this varies from image editor to image editor, but if it's too difficult I can handle it.
