Ever needed a quick way to talk about making a run from New Hovlund to Steppe? Well, here it is. I am creating a list of acronyms for individual Skylands similar to those used by air traffic controllers before the Upheaval.

SKYLANDS:
Aleut - ALT
Alpha 1 - A01
Alpha 2 - A02
Alpha 3 - A03
Alpha 4 - A04
Alpha 5 - A05
Alpha 6 - A06
Alpha 7 - A07
Alpha 8 - A08
Alpha 9 - A09
Alpha 10 - A10
Alpha 11 - A11
Alpha 12 - A12
Alpha 13 - A13
Alpha 14 - A14
Alpha 15 - A15
Alpha 16 - A16
Alpha 17 - A17
Arcadia - ARC
Cidade - CID
Earthbreach - EBH
Echo - ECO
Eltsina - ESA
Fuseli - FSI
Getty - GTY
Goldenrod - GRD
Gonk - GNK
Grottopolis - GRS
Isla di Pisa - IDP
Islo - ISO
Jordan - JDN
Juliet - JLT
Kadath - KDH
Leng - LNG
Lhasa - LSA
Luz - LUZ
Midgard - MGD
New Hovlund - NHD
Olio - OLO
Phillipia - PLA
Romeo - RMO
Sharif - SRF
Shriebeck - SBK
Steppe - STP
Tehras - TRS
Tinkspoit - TNK
Tortuga - TRT
Uurwerk - UWK
Valvia - VAL
Volstoy - VLY

FUEL PLATFORMS:
Fuel XIX: F19
Fuel XXXIV: F35
Fuel XXXVI: F36
Fuel XXII: F12
Fuel XXXVIII: F38
Fuel LVIII: F53

Feel free to add/suggest changes to the acronyms. Once the list is completed and finalized I will add it to the Cowpendium and the Glossary.

EDIT: Thanks to the efforts of Marcus Langley, all Skylands have been given short names. Fuel Stations, however, are still incomplete.

It's a good thought, though the Alphas would probably be more simply put as just A1, A2, A3, A4, A5, etc.

I thinkt it would be better placed on the Skybrary's Glossary Page than the compendium, personally.

Here's my take, incorporating most of yours and counting in the other skylands, thanks to The Skybrary's Skylands Category, which has them all in alphabetical order.

Aleut - ALT
Alpha 1 - A1
Alpha 2 - A2
Alpha 3 - A3
Alpha 4 - A4
Alpha 5 - A5
Alpha 6 - A6
Alpha 7 - A7
Alpha 8 - A8
Alpha 9 - A9
Alpha 10 - A10
Alpha 11 - A11
Alpha 12 - A12
Alpha 13 - A13
Alpha 14 - A14
Alpha 15 - A15
Alpha 16 - A16
Alpha 17 - A17
Arcadia - ARC (ADA?)
Cidade - CID (CDE?)
Earthbreach - EBH
Echo - ECO
Eltsina - ESA
Fuseli - FSI
Getty - GTY
Goldenrod - GRD
Gonk - GNK
Grottopolis - GRT (GTS?)
Isla di Pisa - IDP
Islo - ISO
Jordan - JRD (JDN?)
Juliet - JLT
Kadath - KDH
Leng - LNG
Lhasa - LSA
Luz - LUZ
Midgard - MGD
New Hovlund - NHD
Olio - OLO
Phillipia - PLA
Romeo - RMO
Sharif - SRF
Shriebeck - SBK
Steppe - STP
Tehras - TRS
Tinkspoit - TNK (TST?)
Tortuga - TRT
Uurwerk - URK (or just UUR)
Valvia - VAL (helps distinguish it from...)
Volstoy - VLY

Fuel stops should just be F##, where ## is whatever their roman numeral designation is, in standard decimal.

I also propose that Getty, Uur or Grotto have the code '404'.

Marcus: Thank you very much, I'll add those soon. Probably later today. I agree with Fuel Stations being just F##, in fact it's how I was going to do it anyway. The Alphas below 10 should be A01, A02, etc.

If you're going to use three letters to represent a skyland, you should try to use the first three letters. There are exceptions.

I really rather prefer ones that look like something you'd put on a license plate.

I'm trying to base these on those used by the FAA, which don't necessarily use the first three letters of an airport to describe it. Examples: JFK, PHX, and so on.

((The FAA uses the first three letters of the city name where possible.))

Deyo, Tilde:OK, you have a point there.

Eeptog: Not necessarily. The idea is to make it a standard set of call signs so I can use one and you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.

There we go, edited the Wiki page as per Tilde's suggestions.

Still working on a list of Fuel Stations.

Listing each fuel station seems redundant to me. There's so many of the {static} things it'd be taking up space needlessly.

Hey, I don't know about you, bet I can't be bothered to type "Leng" out every time. This acronym list will make things so much easier on my poor typing hands.

But for real, this could be neat to see worked into RP technical jargon.

Exactly, plus it's something for me to do while I wait for my plane to land.

Definitely consider it.
I've never regretted it, and I don't know anyone else who has. We're a fun bunch.
Plus we have an awesome emblem.
