THE COMPETITION IS NOW OVER

--------------------------
Competition Rules

Good day Skyrates!

In the spirit of good will and fun, the Echo Flight School is sponsoring a great Marathon Hunt!

The rules are as follows.

In the words of the honorable Professor Rugert Mitsu:
"I am challenging you all to battle of endurance. The rules are simple: How many planes can you down around Tortuga (hunting) without landing? You can bribe, Flee and Lose all you like, but you're only hurting your score. "

The Skyrate with the most planes downed is the winner!

Our statistician, Phil will be analyzing the flight logs of all participants to discover the winner.

You may try as many times as you like, however the proceedings will only be going on from 12:01 PM EST on Friday, August 10th to
12:01 AM EST on Wednesday, August 15th.

That's 5 whole days of hunting! Just do the hunt sometime in that time frame and it will be counted. You may try as many times as you like.

As a prize, the winner will get:
a Skyrate purse of $50,000
a forum title of their choice (within reason)
10,000 influence at a Skyland of their choice (with the exception of the capitals).

If you have any questions, I'll be happy to answer them. I'm greatly looking forward to the proceedings!

Additionally, to those involved, please feel free to post your best results here, as well as your plane, combat infamy scores, etc.

May the skies keep you!

------------------

COMPETITION RESULTS

Ladies and gentleman, I would like to congratulate you all on efforts well spent! I am heartily impressed that many of you went out there, flying your colors for the good of Tortuga!

Ah yes, but the results. I'm sure you're all interested...

Regrettably, we neglected to specify what kind of kills counted for the competition. Originally, we felt only manual kills. As such, we will be awarding a prize to the leader of the Manual Kills, and the Autoresolved Kills.

And those people are...

BURRITO LOCO! Master of the manual take down with 123 planes downed in a single hunt

and...

DRAH'K'MAR! Baron of autoresolves with a whopping 180 planes downed in a single hunt

For a more detailed showing of the results, and a look at how you stacked up in comparison, check out:

http://badges.etc.cmu.edu/skyrates/huntRanks.php

As such, both players will be awarded 50,000 credits. If you all will PM me with the forum title you would like, I will see about getting it approved.

Additionally, if you all will PM me what skyland to sing your praises, I shall let it be known.

---------------------------------------

DONATION RESULTS

The kindness and generosity of Skyrates! The following has been pledged to rebuilding Tortuga.

2,000,000 G from Jarylan Blackwell of the Azure League.
1,000,000 G from Burrito Loco of the Azure League.
550,000 G bounty from Firefox of the Crimson Armada.
400,000 G from Shakal of the Azure League.

Ellington Radio will be up and running through as much of the events as possible, despite the fact that all three commentators from the station have signed up for it and will be dodging bullets. Good luck, all hunters, and fly well. Tune in to Ellington Radio for frequent updates.

Any chance of us being able to donate our profit, or at least our winnings to the restoration of Tortuga? The idea got brought up on an ERN broadcast by Ellington, and I'm firmly in favor of the ability to do so.

Jary, I'm going to say yes. And I am sure the Tortugans will be grateful.

Kay, is this going to be some sort of official after the fact thing? Or should I go for the old stand by and buy and sell the same thing over and over? *chuckles*

Hopefully the hunts need only BEGIN within the timeframe, otherwise I'm afraid I will be unable to participate in my own competition thanks to Time Warner and the lack of service.

The eyes seem to be going in my old age. I thought I read 12 AM Sunday. Never mind.

Well, looks like I had to work during the whole night of the competition. Dang, if I had just known about the official start date even a day before the start date, I could have participated. Oh well.

So how did everyone do?

Whole night??? The thing runs for nearly a week. I personally won't be getting there until Monday morning which gives me two days of hunting there.

...it lasts for 5 days! It's still going on! Get to hunting!

And re: an earlier question, just let it be known what you wish to donate to Tortuga, and I shall ensure the money is allocated.

Jarylan's Great Hunt Statistics

Flight Time: 5:47:31

Kills: 112
Profit: 406,729
Tortuga Donation: 400,000 (Just for the evenness of the number)

Times Shot Down: 2
Times Fled: Lots

End of Hunt: Diverted to Tortuga
Reason: Out of Ammo, and did not feel like being blown up more because it.

Craft Specifications:
Name: Azure Harlequin
Type: Dauntless
Upgrades:
Larger Props
Exploding Rounds
Armor Piercing Rounds
Large Ammo Feed
Redesigned Wings A
Redesigned Wings B
Large Internal Fuel Tank

Notes: I told myself I would try again on Tuesday if I didn't do well. But judging from these statistics, I did very well. I might not win, but this score should prove that you don't need a blimp to be deadly.

Phil, when you get the chance, if you can confirm my numbers, or tell me I miscarried a one somewhere, that'd be great. Thank you.

Also, to everyone else, more information is available on request. I took good notes, I'm just too lazy to do the math right now.

an important presentation in my "real" work will keep me from running the final tally until Wednesday evening at the earliest. Sorry about that, just wanted to give a heads-up.

That's cool. I'm going to try again tonight anyway, since I apparently have a decent shot at winning this enchilada.
