Here are the results in each division:

Congratulations and many thanks to the extremely talented artists who participated in the first ever Alcuin the Wise Seminary Alternative Art Expo!

((Several large cargo containers are welded together, with windows, roll-up doors, and gas lights. The whole affair is hauled from skyland to skyland in a rented Leviathan. The following is painted on the main entrance.))

The Alcuin the Wise Seminary is pleased to announce its first annual Alternative Art Exhibition!

edit: The Academy has been renamed!

Date: Sunday, March 1, 2009
Location: Earthbreach!

This conference is primarily intended to showcase the talent of artists whose work has not seen a broader audience, but the Seminary will ensure that any artist who wishes to participate receives ample exhibit space.

Amenities will include Aleutian and Kadathi cuisine, as well as a fully-stocked wet bar.

The categories will be:
  • Conceptual and Abstract Imagery
  • Realist Imagery
  • Photography - Nature and Architecture
  • Photography - Objects and Individuals
  • Sculpture
  • Performance and Spoken Word

The Seminary also seeks volunteer judges to provide awards in recognition of creativity, passion, and talent in each field, as well as the Exhibition as a whole.

Participation:

Artists may place works in this container before its final exhibit site is chosen, and they will be presented to all sites we visit in the interim. If you would like your work to remain a surprise until the exhibit opens officially, you may ship the work directly to associate professor Deyo Llwyd rhys Penri, or arrive at the site on opening day. We hope to have a site chosen by February 25, which should offer exhibitors ample time to relocate even the most unwieldy of works.

edit: A site has been chosen, and in true Earthen Order style, we'll be asking for forgiveness rather than permission!

The Seminary hopes that the first A2E will see a great turnout both of artists and attendees!

-c.

Remember, the expo may come to you! We'll be open at all of our landing sites before we set up shop. :)

Ooh! I've got a good idea for the sculpture section, so hopefully I can make a good enough version in time.

With luck, it will even fly...

HOW TO SUBMIT:

For static images, you can post the image here, email it to cgrimm(at)pobox.com, or upload the image to Flickr and send me the link.

Images sent to me or posted here will be uploaded to Flickr with credit and copyright assigned to the creator.

I will create a public Flickr pool for images.

I hope to have a unique display method in place for 3D works. If it works, I'll have a venue for Google SketchUp and COLLADA 3D models.

Performance and Spoken Word works should be in .avi, .mpg, .ogg, or .mp3 format, and should be limited to one minute. I will add videos to the public Flickr pool , or you can add them yourself. If you send me an audio file, you can include a static image which will show in the Flickr pool, or I can create a simple image with your name and the work's title.

The exhibit hall will launch soon, be on the lookout!

We've decided to hold the party on Earthbreach, at least until Governor Kincaid and the Blue Lawyers kick us out!

We'll see everyone there, March 1!

The party starts at 4:00 p.m. Pacific time! I will accept entries up until the start time of 4:00. Drinks and hors d'Å“uvre will be available, and a reception dinner will start at 6:00 p.m. We will present awards during the dinner.

I hope to see everyone there!

Hey Papa! Nice work! Did you devise the fold pattern from scratch, or did you base it on another model? Did you happen to diagram your Inger?
Very cool!

I basically just start folding from a direction that I think will work and play around, then keep the parts I like and fold a new model. This one was the third version. I can diagram it if you want, it's pretty simple.

I'm in class learning how to use a milling machine. The party might start a few minutes late.

The exposition has begun, with thirteen exhibits by four artists:

Anyone can submit a secret ballot ((send me a PM)) with a vote for best in each category, as well as the best overall exhibit.
